The Heart Residence is a large-scale mansion that combines two adjacent households into one. The three-generation multi-member family, consisting of the owner couple, children, and elderly, required a design that caters to their diverse needs and preferences. The challenge was to create a warm and safe living environment that accommodates an age span of more than 60 years.
One of the standout features of the Heart Residence is the independent game room located next to the living room. Inspired by Lego blocks, this area provides a dedicated space for the children to play and explore. The lighting design in this room adds a touch of magic, turning their childhood into an exclusive castle.
The interior of the Heart Residence is a testament to the designer's attention to detail and commitment to creating a unique atmosphere. The entrance features hexagonal collaged floor tiles, custom-made ceilings, and lacquer walls, blurring the boundaries between inside and outside. The living room, with its cultural stone walls and red brick elements, exudes an industrial style, complemented by an arc ceiling and ring-shaped chandeliers that create a planet-like scene. The use of British style leather furniture and a mix of trendy and classic ornaments and toys adds a touch of sophistication to the space.
The design of the Heart Residence prioritizes functionality and interaction. Unlike traditional open living and dining rooms, the dining area is separated from the living room, allowing for more intimate gatherings. The dining and kitchen open spaces, equipped with an island, light bar, and dining table, facilitate communication and interaction while cooking and dining. This design choice strengthens the relationships within the family, creating a communicative area that goes beyond the living room.
The bedrooms in the Heart Residence are designed with the users' preferences and personality characteristics in mind. Each bedroom has its own unique style, providing a personal sanctuary for each family member.
The Heart Residence, located in Taoyuan, Taiwan, was completed in February 2021. The design process involved extensive research and careful consideration of the family's needs. The removal of unnecessary partitions and the introduction of natural light were key elements in creating a spacious and inviting atmosphere. The use of environmentally friendly green building materials further enhances the overall design.
The Heart Residence has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements. The Heart Residence stands out for its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing a fulfilling and positive living experience for the family.
The Heart Residence is a testament to Peilun Chang's talent and creativity in designing spaces that cater to the unique needs of multi-generation families. Through ingenious planning and attention to detail, this house has become a paradise for the old, middle, and young generations, fostering family coexistence and creating beautiful memories.
